{A Dash of Love} AppleMinis

I actually got a chance today to explore my new recipe idea! I am so excited about it! I have finally made my mini apple pies, or you can call them turnovers, tarts, etc....it is just goodness wrapped up in dough! I am calling them Heather's Homemade AppleMinis.

They turned out amazing and everyone must try this perfect fall recipe, asap! They were so good, I was so pleased. You will be surprised at how simple this is too. It is perfect for those holiday get-togethers, everyone would get to enjoy special personal apple pies. There are pictures and a tutorial below:

Ingredients
6 apples peeled, cored, and chopped...I used 2 Gala, 2 Honeycrisp, and 2 Fuji.
1/2 cup of water
Approx. 2 tbsp of sugar
Approx. 1-2 tsp of cinnamon
Approx. 1 tbsp of honey
Approx. 2 tbsp of brown sugar
Approx. 1 tbsp of cornstarch
Any type of refridgerated pie crust
Melted butter, for tops of pies before baking
Mix up cinnamon and sugar, set aside for topping

(The selection on apples was poor at the grocery store so I bought 2 of each of the best, and types I liked but you can use any apples you like and use all the same!)

Put chopped apples and water in a large pot and boil on medium heat. This takes a while and after about 30 minutes I turned down to medium-low. You want to get the apples soft enough for a fork to easily pierce them, but still keep some of their shape too.

I really forgot to time this whole process, but it is based mostly on how you like your apples to be, I like mine mushier! So cook them until they are your desired consistency.

During this process you also want to add your cinnamon, sugar, honey, and brown sugar. The measurements are approximate but I tried to accurately record what I did. This again will depend on your liking and the size of your apples, honeycrisp apples are huge so mine might have been a larger batch than yours will.

Once they boiled down mix in cornstarch until you get your desired thickness. The best way I have found to do this is to mix the cornstarch with water until it is a good liquid consistency and then add it in and stir briskly! This prevents lumps better than just dumping in the powder!

I used both cresent roll dough and pie crust dough from the biscuit section. I liked the way they both turned out, but I think the cresent roll made something that would be better as a danish with some Mascarpone cheese! (Next time!) And I can't tell you how much you need because that is just based on how many you want to make. I boughtt one of each type and made 10 total pies, 2 pretty large ones. So again personalize this to you! The pastry dough in the freezer section is something I plan to try too, so use whatever dough you like!

You then just assemble them in whatever fun way you want and brush with the melted butter! Top with sprinkled cinna-sugar and bake in the oven, cresent rolls were at 350 degrees for about 15 min, pie crust ones were at 425 degrees for about 15 min.

(You can also top them with a simple icing made from just whisking milk and powdered sugar together!)

Now you have amazingly yummy AppleMinis!

I even tried a little bow! I liked the pouches, they looked cute and were easy to do. Also contemplated calling them ApplePockets or ApplePouches, which were Ethan's name ideas! :)

You can have yummy homemade goodies in no time with this simple, delicious recipe. I hope you try them and enjoy this amazing fall weather!

Now I must eat more apple pies..it's a hard job, but somebody's gotta do it.
Tootles!
